Island Pacific Sends Off Manny Pacquiao in Style!

11 March 2010

IT was a meal fit for royalty.

What do you expect when you cater for the Pound-4-Pound King Manny Pacquiao and his guest of 170 people as they prepared to take off to Arlington, Texas, the site of Pacquiao’s next fight against Joshua Clottey this Saturday.

The chartered plane to Texas

At a private terminal near LAX, about two hundreds guests and the King Pacquiao himself   ate trays of delicious Filipino food including Tinolang Manok with Malunggay Leaves & Green Papaya, Grilled Salmon Filet with Soymansi Glaze and washed down with signature cocktail drink that Chef Cecilia created called “PacPunch,” a mixture of VuQo Premium Vodka and cantaloupe.Chef Cecilia de Castro, her crew from ACE and with the ingredients provided by Island Pacific, “We wanted to send of Pacquiao in style,” said De Castro. “We all want Manny to win and we hope this food will fill him with nutrients to do so.”

Chef  Cecilia De Castro with Manny Pacquiao's
personal cook, Nonoy
Chef de Castro and Pacquiao’s personal cook, Nonoy worked together for the sumptuous meals. The dishes were prepared according to the request and specifications of Nonoy, who is in charge with keeping Pacquiao in shape especially in this fight where the pound-4-pound king has to maintain his 147-pound frame. Nonoy instructed de Castro to serve Pacquiao a high protein diet, not to prepare any pork dishes and serve his favorite soup, Tinolang Manok.“When we received the instructions from Nonoy, we really wanted to get the best ingredients so we went to Island Pacific,” said de Castro. And the food came out great, with many of the guests at the send-off party coming up for second and third trips to the buffet banquet. The wonderful meals from de Castro and Island Pacific didn’t stop there. The lucky 150+ guests on board also were served personal meals for the two-hour trip to Arlington, Texas.About Island Pacific Island Pacific offers the most complete line of Filipino and Asian food.
