ISLAND PACIFIC SUPERMARKET EARTH DAY CELEBRATION (Discounts, Give Aways and Clean Up Day)


Panorama City - Last Saturday, Island Pacific Supermarket spearheaded a clean up of Panorama Plaza along Roscoe and Van Nuys. This was a joint undertaking of Island Pacific Supermarket with the following: City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works, Office of Community Beautification through its representative, Maria Sheets; the office of Councilmember Richard Alarcon, District 7 through its Field Representative, Eric Sugay; the Filipino Community of San Fernando Valley headed by its President, Leo Maranan, and the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, San Fernando Valley (FACCSFV) headed by its current President, Rick Rolda.


 A handful of volunteers from these organizations donated their time and came to support this clean up campaign. This event was also utilized as a community outreach of the United States Census Bureau through its partnership with the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, San Fernando Valley (FACCSFV) where passers by and shoppers alike were handed out information pertaining to the Census 2010.

It was also a 'Bring Your Own Bag or B.Y.O.B" day at Island Pacific. A handful of Island Pacific shoppers brought their own reusable bags and they instantly received a 10% discount. Island Pacific also gave away reusable bags for every $30 worth of purchase.

By working closely with various organizations, it aims to contribute in ways that can improve and develop our communities.Earth Day campaign is just the beginning of a great partnership between Island Pacific and the local communities.

Clean Up and Bring Your Own Bag (B.Y.O.B) Day at Island Pacific Panorama City


Panorama City - Island Pacific Supermarket joins the rest of the world in celebrating "Earth Day" 2010 on April 24, Saturday. As a way to celebrate Earth Day, Island Pacific Supermarket will have a cleanup day from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon at its Panorama City location.


The cleanup day is a joint undertaking of Island Pacific Supermarket and the following: City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works, Office of Community Beautification through its representative, Maria Sheets; the office of Councilmember Richard Alarcon, District 7 through its Field Representative, Eric Sugay; the Filipino Community of San Fernando Valley headed by its President, Leo Maranan, and the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, San Fernando Valley (FACCSFV) headed by its current President, Rick Rolda. Members of these organizations have volunteered to do their share in saving and protecting the environment with a simple deed of cleaning up the area surrounding the Island Pacific Plaza. Island Pacific Plaza is one of the five (5) staging areas between Panorama City and North Hills for multiple clean ups happening on that day, in observance of Earth Day. The other staging areas are : Valley Swap Indoor Swap Meet, 9261 Wakefield Avenue, Marson Park, Langdon Avenue & Columbus Avenue in North Hills.


Also on April 24, it’s a “Bring Your Own Bag or B.Y.O.B day at Island Pacific. Shoppers will automatically receive a 10% discount on non-sale items if they bring their own bag when they shop at Island Pacific Panorama on this day. Island Pacific will also be giving away FREE REUSABLE BAG for every $30 worth of purchase.


Now on its 40th year, Earth Day is the only event celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities. More than a billion people participate in Earth Day activities each year, which falls every 22nd of April. Earth Day began as a grassroots movement in the 1960s when over 20 million demonstrators and thousands of schools and local communities participated in bringing environmental issues to the forefront in American politics. Since then, activities and concerns have expanded over the entire globe with Earth Day celebrated in over 140 countries worldwide.


Earth Day is about getting involved and becoming connected with local communities that share similar interests in protecting and enhancing the environment. Island Pacific’s corporate responsibility involves caring for the communities in which we live and work. It aims to contribute in ways that can improve and develop our communities and making sure that its business processes do not exploit the environment.
